Lack of Sports
I really love living in Japan. Maybe that is why I decided to re-contract for a third year last Friday. But one thing continues to grate on my nerves: lack of live sports. Today as you know was Superbowl Sunday (or Superbowl Monday here in Japan. The Superbowl is a huge staple for me. Even if I wasn't interested in the teams, I'd usually have a few buddies over for beers and pizza every year to my house to watch on the big screen. This year marks the second year in row that I've watched the Superbowl from the comfort of my computer screen. Nothing let's you follow the action of a championship football game like hitting the refresh button every minute or so. And who forgets that I had to watch my beloved Red Sox championship run from the computer in the teachers room at school? A 1 in 86 year event, and I'm left scrambling. Damn. I outta get my satellite dish set up fast, or if not, I'm sure I'll appreciate all future sporting events on TV when I come home.
